Great movie. Saw it today with the girl. I like cera so i didnt mind him as scott so much. He actually made a scott alot more likable for me than in the comics. 95% o the time in the comics i wanted to punch him in the face.

This flick was/is amazing on every level and actually breaks a cardinal rule for me. The book is NOT better than the movie.

Oh and why the Sex Bob-omb songs are so epic? Beck did them.

Hail people in the Bunker, this is DaemonReaper (sometimes lurker at EerieRadio) writing in to say, Damn it, as if I didn't have enough podcasts to listen to, you had to come along and do a podcast that makes me laugh so hard, I nearly wet my pants. Well, one more to the list. I have to say that I love your guys show. Pastor, I am a somewhat of a diest, but after listening to you, I wouldn't mind coming to your church. I'm really sorry Satyr to hear about your cat, may be nibble on the eternal catnip in the sky.

Exact change? That's nothing. I worked in at a local grocery store for five years and have stories that your have you pouring bleach down your ears. Kids playing twister in the meat department? Seen it. Have several men runing around, sliding across the floor on their stomachs and yelling while dressed up in gorrila suits? Been there. Have old Iranian men smacking thier full grown sons,(while the soons stood there taking it submissivly) for attempting to steal a beer? chuckled over it. Have some one eat a ton of polish food apperently, walk into the only customer bathroom in the store, and explode? Had to clean it. (seriously, there was poo on the CEILING!) And ohh yea, my store was right next to a retirement home, so we got old people in all the time.

I've always ended up at the place where if Satan really knew that crucifying Jesus would, essentially, end Satan's reign over the Earth, the crucifixion wouldn't have happened. None of it is backed up with Scripture, but the idea that Satan went into the crucifixion thinking, "Well maybe he'll just stay dead and I can say I've finally killed God". Much of Satan's downfall was pride (from some extra-Biblical sources, and the book of Job) so he may have just gotten the better of himself. It's not exactly Biblical, but it's one of those things that can be an effective teaching tool.

Question: I have heard this before, and I have tended to believe it without any scripture to back it up. But now I'm curious. I just read 1 Cor 2:8 "None of the rulers of this age understood it [God's secret wisdom], for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory." This seems to back it up for sure!

Where i get hazy is in Matthew 16 I think, When Jesus flat out says he will die AND RISE AGAIN. Peter rebukes him and Jesus calls him Satan! So Satan must have known that Jesus was saying this, but did he not believe him?

The guess the questions are: is the verse in 1 Cor speaking of Satan when it says "rulers of this age?" And/or does the verse in Matthew signify in any way that Satan knew what was going on? Or does it simply show his ignorance to the things of God...but seriously. If he knows God can't lie...would he really think Jesus was lying?

Thoughts?

You know, just because the visual effects are fairly well done, I'd go see it in the dollar theater, in the very least. I didn't see it in 3D (because I hate 3D) but I'm not sure it would add to anything.

I just hope the BP spill will help to open people's eyes to the relentless abuse we have been dealing to our planet's hydrological systems for decades.
 Because of their vastness the oceans can absorb, literally, metric tons of industrial and agricultural waste without showing ill effects, immediately. Because we don't live in the water we don't notice the subtle profound changes as they take place until it is to late.
 Long before the Deepwater Horizon spill the Gulf was already suffocating from Dead Zones, areas wherein the ecosystem had deteriorated so much that it resembled the anoxic Precambrian seas. Coupled with that overfishing and trawling that have been sweeping the waters clean of any living thing with a commercial value on its head.

You know, I wouldn't disagree with that. I wasn't entirely pleased with how the series ended. However, the escape from New Caprica episode (Exodus) was pretty hawt and it made me all tingly at times.

The whole show is amazing. I have no argument to back that statement up, and I don't need one. Avatar is the best animated series I have ever seen, hands down. There's no hyping about it. They created a world and mythology that was awesome, mysticism and martial arts that rock, and characters that are more real than half of the bullshit on TV.

Battlestar, on the other hand, was great until they got to New Caprica. Then the whole thing just falls apart. The last season made me want to hurt myself rather than watch it.

It definitely has a little kid slant at times, but you have to see the forest for the trees with it. Some of the battle sequences are amazing. You really should give it another try.

And as for BSG...well sir....I think you have a project to get to!

I've tried to watch avatar: the last airbender. It's not nearly as good as everyone hypes it up to be from my perspective. I mean yes its a step above the usual shows Nick churns out, but its not exactly revolutionary or anything. But to each their own.

*has never watched an episode of the new BSG*

Ive been watching the coverage myself: my personal highlights (as in this could actually get money out of me) so far:

1. Star Wars the Old Republic
The trailer made it look awesome and im jonesing for some MMOness. But we'll see if the execution is as good as the hype, i dont quite trust it

2. DC Universe Online
Another one I dont trust the hype of, but if done right, could be one of the best things ever. I mean think about an MMO that has Metropolis, Gotham, other planets and even the realms of Death, Dream, etc? Theres just so many places this could go and if it explores them could be the best thing to happen to MMOs in a long time.

3. Marvel Vs Capcom 3
So this isnt RPG or whatnot but come the fuck on...Capcom makes my 2nd favorite fighting games (i grew up on Super Street Fighter 2) and adding in marvel characters over the street fighter engine just makes it better. The selling point for me though is Deadpool as a playable character. I'm preordering this as soon as I see opportunity.

Lets forum it up and discuss more nerdgasming!

If I may make a suggestion - many public library systems carry quite a few titles (mostly in TPB) and the price is incomparable. I read several titles this way before deciding to spend money on them - including "Top Ten", "Astro City", "Strangers in Paradise", and "Powers" (all of which I highly recommend). Also, do a search on sites that have a lot of PDF files, people routinely post comics there as well .....

Besides the titles I listed above, I also recommend "Identity Crisis" (Probably one of the best mini-series I have read in a long time), "The Authority" (The first few story arcs, later ones got boring), "Smax" (spin-off from "Top Ten"), "Fables", "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" (the comic was much better than the movie), and "Stormwatch" (near the end it got really good, and led into "The Authority") to name a few ... I plan to check out "Hip Flask" and "Elephantmen" soon as well, looks promising.

If you ever get a chance to play them...There was a 3 part series released after "The Blair Witch Project" as a weird tie in to the movie. They were cheap at the time ($10 a pop I think) and I couldn't even finish the first one due to the tension. Not really "Horror" in the true genre sense but amazingly nail biting all the same. Very much along the lines of Silent Hill.

We used to play Talisman all the time when I was in the Army and going to school in Texas. Well, either that or Risk or Axis&Allies. Fun game, but certain characters were OP and as such people would always try to get them first. Solution, first character everyone got was chosen at random. I have the newer version of the game (my friend painted the figurines, the original we played had the cardboard stand-ups), which I haven't played as much but own for nostalgia's sake.

CCGs .... where do I start. I played Magic in the old days, didn't get in in time for Alpha/Beta/AQ/AN stuff (bummer).... started around 4thED, so got in on some cool sets such as Ice Age. I played quite a few CCGs, and collected way more. My favorite to this day is Legend of the 5 Rings, followed closely by Magic and the old Lord of the Rings game.

I have the newer version of the game (my friend painted the figurines, the original we played had the cardboard stand-ups), which I haven’t played as much but own for nostalgia’s sake.

CCGs …. where do I start. I played Magic in the old days, didn’t get in in time for Alpha/Beta/AQ/AN stuff (bummer)…. started around 4thED, so got in on some cool sets such as Ice Age. I played quite a few CCGs, and collected way more. My favorite to this day is Legend of the 5 Rings, followed closely by Magic and the old Lord of the Rings game.

Great job Owl....I came across a wonderful, inspiring story I wanted to share with you. I was on-line and came across a story of a young High School student who decided to do something positive and beneficial in wake of these crazy loons protesting every social event possible. This protest involved the acceptance of some Gay and Lesbian program at this local High School....in addition to the larger than life counter-protest from across the street, there was a booth set up by a student accepting donations for all sorts of local charities. The guy raised a considerable amount of money for these great causes all due to the fact these nut cases were in town....I found it inspiring that this light of positiveness was shining bright against such displays hatred.

Yeah, literally read that 10 minutes after I posted. The problem with that is that it only appears "3D" if you're looking at it head on, from approx. 12 inches away, otherwise, reports say that it's blurry. Still retarded, and no force on earth could convince me to own one :)

I agree that 3D is really just a gimmick, but there is one problem I had with your post. The 3DS will NOT require any special glasses for a 3D experience. We'll learn/see more during E3 from June 15-17.

I'm not going to lie... I hate Asian style MMOs. Maybe it has something to do with the grind, running at a 45 degree angle or perhaps even the androgynous male characters. Who knows? I just can't spend more than a week before saying "meh" and going back to WoW. But I must agree that these new titles that are beginning to make waves do seem to cater to close minded westerners like myself. My biggest concern is this: What do they bring to the market? They need to have something revolutionary for someone like me to even consider throwing down my 50 bucks. I don't think a nice physics engine or boobies will cut it. (well maybe the boobies)

Suikoden is a fantastic series! I have FF3 for the DS, so I may end up beating it someday. Hopefully I'll get the same glitch you did :P

My experiences with Final Fantasy 11 could (and probably will) be the subject of a whole other post, but I guess we'll see how FF14 turns out.

I liked this sermon, and I agree with you on the point you made .... "Too often as Christians we find ourselves in the position of the older son, and we have a hard time accepting folk who we think Jesus shouldn’t accept." You can just as easily replace 'Christians' with 'Human Beings' and 'Jesus' with 'mainstream society'. In this manner, I am nowhere near perfect I admit - though I will always strive to become better.

On a side-note, I think it'd be cool to sit in on one of your sermons .... I'd roadtrip for it if I could.

My first taste of a console RPG was Final Fantasy III (N. American version, VI in Japan). Of the entire series, it's still my favorite. In no particular order it's in my top 5 along with Chrono Trigger, Lunar SSSC (the re-release on PSP has aggravated me in so many ways, and I have only played 40 minutes or so of it), Xenogears, and Suikoden III. I once played FF III for 30 hours straight (Cactaur hunting to raise magic acquisition points)and it glitched on me giving me 99 of every item in the game .... every single one. That's right, I had 99 of every piece of uber equipment I wasn't even 3/4 of the way through the game. Best glitch ever.

I never got into FF after VII, they didn't really grab my interest. Like you, I never did finish VII, but I have it on my PSP so maybe someday. I liked the tactics games, although I preferred Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre more in that particular genre. As far as FFXI goes, that is the first MMO I ever played and so I have a soft spot for it - despite it's many flaws. I signed up to try to get into the FFXIV beta and I will try it out when it goes live.

To be honest I never really viewed the true love that was in my face most of my life until it wasnt there anymore; my parents use to fight tooth and nail and do the most horrible things to each other and yet, they forgave each other. In contrast they have known each other since they were kids but through thick and thin their love was never extinguished by any wind, burning without wood or oil.

And here I am, later in life, with a similar situation when so many times I felt like murdering and bleaching the body. Somehow if I am able to forgive and forget, with the patience and kindness my parents have shown to be true love, maybe this is the one.

Mountain Lion (Puma/Cougar/etc.)is a large cat, short haired

The Bobcat is a smaller cat, longer hair - more akin to the Lynx.

well, at the moment the top box is for the show. The top line of smaller boxes is for the pastors corner (newest on the left) and the last line is for Satyrs rants (newest on the left). Still not sure if I like it that way though...what do ya think?

Ok, I reckon I logged on before you made some of the final touch ups earlier - I like what you've done. One question though - the front page seemed a little out of order .... the entries weren't entirely chronological. How is it sorted exactly?

On another note ... people may well be about twenty different kinds of d-bags. But you do NOT have to exhibit that fact in every remotely dramatic movie. Especially when it comes to rape, murder, and rape. Yes I said that one twice. I surely hope there's a special place in hell for rapists.

That is all.

Oh, yeah - while we're at it, I'd like to also point out that I think marriage as an institution is outdated ... as are many things we incorporate into our everyday lives. We continue to cling to concepts like that which were established ages ago, and have yet to allow them to evolve in tandem with our society. People, I hope, will come to realize that change must affect a greater part of our lives and how we live it - or we as a species and a civilization will have stagnated and we might as well just start heading downhill from here.

However, telling people how they should vote or saying that their vote was wrong infringes on their right at an opinion (I know this will become a vicious, never-ending cycle ...).

The main reason for the past 3 elections I have written in my name for President instead of voting for either of the main party candidates is because I was tired of people telling me what was right and wrong, and that basically my opinions were less valid than theirs. Even more so coming from a state like Washington where it could matter less who I voted for, because our Electoral College votes were determined before voting even began.

I don't mind someone calling me an idiot if I like to hang upside down from the uneven bars and pee when I get thirsty to get some liquid refreshment, but I take a tiny bit of offense when I am told that based on the way my mind works when it comes to making decisions - I am wrong.

Mind you, I am (mostly) playing devil's advocate here. If I were to be posting on another site where they were celebrating the "victory", I would be coming at this from a completely different angle. I would like to think that I can see a issue from all points of view so I can get a better understanding of a topic so I could get a better understanding on what's truly important - and get insight on those that would call me friend or enemy.

In my experience sang: being a hetero but non religious male in the south: young people that tend to be "conservative" still believe their vote matters. They still go vote. Alot of the "liberals" too drunk, too stoned, or too pissed off to vote. Alot of people would rather not vote than vote for an issue they dont give a crap about. Its hard to be pissed at a group that bent you over its knee like you dropped the soap in prison (too far?) and not lump them together. If it's not an us against them mentality you realize how 'alone' your group may be. Its a hard thing to handle. Even at Illinois: a supposed mecca of accesibility as far as colleges go, we had to fight to make sure new buildings and facilities were correctly made. Hell they even took away one of the ramps on my main building so i had to go an extra block when my friends didnt. It's a tough situation. As far as the actual issue goes? there is no slippery slope. and if there is? if some poor schmo wants to marry his boat? let him. If someone wants to marry their pet.: let em...i dont care as long as it doesnt affect me and my pursuit of a thing i'm not sure exists but is defined as life liberty and happiness. 2 cents over.

I agree that it "seems" to be a double edged sword and I myself will let anyone believe in anything they want to...Until it encroaches on me living my life and believing what I want to. Then you best check yourself.
I think people tend to forget that all of this was brought on not by the gay community but by a certain group of people a few years ago who truly believed they could do whatever they want and get away with it. The pot was stirred in order to force the issue before its time.

That said, I doubt many people would look back on Nazi Germany and blame the Jews for not treating the Nazi's with love and respect. Or the Black population here in the States not to long ago for not treating slave owners with love and respect.

This is an issue of Human Rights. It has nothing to do with politics or religion. It just so happens that the loudest voices are coming from a small few who keep making it about that.

I am sick to death of seeing people saying things like
"Keep fighting the good fight, I am behind you 100%".
When what it should really say is
"I totally think you are in the right but I am not going to say anything or stick my neck out at all because I am not gay and it really is a 'gay' fight".

That said I will leave this with a poem by Pastor Martin Niemöller...I think it says it all better than I could.

"First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me."

Let me start of by saying - I understand your disappointment. I would also like to point out that I am a heterosexual male in my mid 30's with no religious belief system or defined political subscription - so you know where exactly I am coming from. I do, however, have a few points I would like to make.

Your state had this issue put forth on this November's ballot because people in Maine felt this should be decided by the people and not just a select few in the government. If we wish to believe we live in a democracy (which we do not, but I digress), then we have to accept that people will feel that this is their right to chose the direction of the laws which govern us. In the end, key mistakes were made which led to this proposition passing ...

1)Assumption. Too many people assumed that because Maine is the way it is politically and how the region in general is gay marriage friendly and didn't prepare to fight this properly. This is not the way to win a vote.

2)Voter turnout. Why is it, every election, people are surprised when more older people (who usually have more conservative views)vote more than younger people? If numbers are correct, voter turnout was lower than expected in Maine and the votes that could've turned the tide - young (college age) adults were nowhere close to what it should have been.

3)"Us vs. them"/"Counter-hate" mentality. Your post on one hand was asking for everyone to be equal and accept people as people regardless of who they are - and then attack the very people who you felt was your opposition. You feel compelled to use language such as "ignorant bible-thumping bastards" and (sorry, I have to quote the entire paragraph) .. "And those who come to me from a religious standpoint had better not waste your time. I don’t believe in your imaginary man in the sky, and I never will, and I don’t give a shit what your little archaic scripture says about what I should or shouldn’t do with my life. You may be weak or stupid enough to allow an ancient fairy-tale to run your life and your precious family’s life, but I will never accept it and I will be the first to tell you that. Your beliefs are holding us back as a community, a nation, a government, a society, a civilisation, and a species and for that you have my sincere loathing." I can't see how you can justify lumping together a plethora of people together - whose views on life, love and happiness are varied and not cut and dried - simply because of a belief system you personally don't happen to support. Hate is hate, and I would think that a reasonable person would not support any of it.

As far as your standpoint on tax-exempt status - I think out entire tax system is ridiculous. I have never supported organizations such as churches nor charities to have tax exempt status.
